Sharing the Faith with Children
Many people believe that task of teaching the Christian faith to children is best handled by the church and it’s the task of parents to support that. The truth is, the opposite is the case. Recent research shows that the Christian faith, which is more “caught than taught”, is most effectively nurtured in the home, with the church serving as a resource to support parents. In order to help parents (and grandparents) in their role as faith-nurturers in the home, we’re offering a seminar on “Sharing the Faith with Children” as a part of our SUPER SATURDAY on June 9.
SACRED SPACE: New time, day and place
Sacred Space will be meeting on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the parlor during the summer months, beginning June 9. This provides an alternative to our traditional 11:00 Sunday worship. The style is both contemplative and interactive, as those gathered reflect upon and discuss the biblical text for the week, as well as other related readings. (This dialogue replaces a formal sermon.) Sacred Space can serve as a mid-week Bible study for those seeking such an experience during the summer.
Christmas in July
We focus celebrate Christmas in July to focus our attention on the "Word made flesh" without all the distractions of December. Our worship is a complete Christmas liturgy with carols and communion. This year we will be collecting "gifts" for the RAIN supply closet (cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and other items food stamps won't buy).
